Tyrants helped the poor by building programs to help provide them jobs. Some enacted laws cancelled the debts that the poor people owe to the wealthy people. Tyrants are important as they helped overthrow oligarchy.
5. Why was the invention of the idea of citizenship important to the development of democracy? A citizen was a person with the right to take part in ruling the city-state. Both wealthy and poor people could be citizens. But, they were divided into two groups, upper and lower citizens. It allowed the upper class citizens make political decisions for democracy. This also helps them decide the government for the city-state.

1. In which form of government do the fewest people share power? A monarchy is a government that a king or queen rules. Even though Oligarchy means, “rule by few”, a monarchy is ruled by only one. 2. How did the geography of Greece lead to the rise of city-states? Greece was divided by many mountains, valleys, and seas this made it hard for Greeks to stay in touch with each other. It also forced them to be only dependent on themselves. So, they created a city-state government. 3. What made the democracy in Athens a limited democracy? Though Athens had a democracy, it didn’t include everyone; only free, adult men were included. Anyone who didn’t fit in to this category wasn’t allowed to be a citizen or participate in political decisions. 4. What were the key factors leading to the rise of tyrants? Explain. One, a wealthy person uses the poor people’s anger to their advantage and asking for their support. Two, the tyrants helped the poor by canceling debts and providing jobs to those who didn’t have any. This made people like the tyrants, causing the rise of the tyrants. 5. Why was the invention of the idea of citizenship important to the development of democracy? Since the citizens rule a democracy, the idea of citizenship is important. 2. How did the geography of Greece lead to the rise of city-states?
Geographic barrier, such as mountain, limited the size of city-states. Most city-states were not so big, and population of each polis couldn’t go over 20,000. Small city-states made residents form close community.

1. In which form of government do the fewest people share power?
I think in the monarchy government because the king and the queen were the only people who could rule, all the others just had to just obey them and go with their wishes. When a monarch King or Queen dies their sons/daughters take over. While in the Oligarchy rule, a few people ruled instead of just the King and the Queen.
2. How did the geography of Greece lead to the rise of city-states?
Greece was not united under one government; it was divided into many Cities. Which were called City-States. They didn't have to fight about who got a bigger land or anything, because they were already divided geographically. Mountains divided them. This way each city had its own government and it was ruled based on how it worked for the people. Mountains blocked trade between cities so this caused the cities to become bigger within them. 20,000 was the approximate population for a city-state.
3. What made democracy in Athens a limited democracy?
I think it’s because that all the people couldn’t vote. Like slaves couldn’t vote and I am not sure but I think women’s couldn’t vote either. That’s why the Athens democracy was limited, because not everyone could vote.
4. What were the key factors leading to the rise of tyrants? Explain.
Tyrants wanted to rule over, that’s why they got help from poor people to overthrow the other government, and they were illegally getting power. The Oligarchy type of government didn’t care about poor people’s opinion. That’s why poor people rebelled, and when they hear that someone’s willing to rule over and give them jobs, they immediately vote for that person to be leader. 5. Why was the invention of the idea of citizenship important to the development of democracy? It’s important because it helped them choose the right government. They needed citizens to vote for the right leaders. You can vote for you leader and that way you can give your opinion on how you want to live, but it won’t always happen the way you want it. Rich and poor people were allowed to vote.
