1. How were Greek religious beliefs and Greek literature linked? Write your answer as a generalization. Lots of Greek literature is based on religious beliefs. Famous Greek literature like the Iliad and the Odyssey are based on religious beliefs. These beliefs were taken and converted into writing their epic stories.
2. What role did religious festivals play in Greek life? Religious festivals were a time to celebrate the gods and goddesses they worshiped. They would visit the temple of the god being celebrated at that festival. They would also attend sacrifices to the gods at the temples.
3. How are the Iliad and the Odyssey connected? The Iliad and the Odyssey were basically two pats to one story. The Iliad is the story of the Trojan War that the Greeks fought. Many great heroes including one Ulysses fought the war. After the war ended Ulysses was one of the surviving heroes. The Odyssey is about his journey back to his home kingdom.
4. What lesson might the Greeks have learned from the myth of Prometheus? They could have thought that the gods will not humans and they had to rely on themselves to push through. They also could have thought that sometimes defying authority can bring good.
5. Why might Atlanta prefer not to marry? She might not want to marry because she does not want to be treated like a woman. In ancient Greece women stayed at home and did housework. Atlanta wanted to hunt and fight. So she did not want to marry and stat living at home.

Since Greek gods were not distant beings and were involved in many peoples lives, many stories were written about them. Religious stories must have been important to the Greek people because they involved the gods they believed in.
2. What role did religious festivals play in Greek life?
Religious festivals were celebrated to have honored the gods, it was believed that if the gods were not celebrated they would get angry at the people and cause terrible chaos.
3. How are the Iliad and the Odyssey connected?
The Iliad was connected to the Odyssey because the Iliad happened just before the Odyssey. The Iliad set the scene for the Odyssey which followed right after the Iliad ended.
4. What lesson might the Greeks have learned from the the myth of Prometheus?
The Greeks might have learned that boasting would have consecuences. Because after Ulysses tells Prometheus who he really was. He prayed for Poseidon to make their journey difficult
5. Why might Atalanta prefer not to marry?
She preferred to be only friends with fellow hunters.

Greek religious beliefs and Greek literature are linked because lots of Greek literature was based on Greek beliefs. Example: The adventures of Ulysses.

Because the ancient Greeks believed that if you didn't hold religious festivals for that specific god then bad luck would shower upon them. Also because they were held every month and practically everyone celebrated them because they didn't want bad luck.

The Iliad and the Odyssey are connected because the Iliad describes the Trojan war and the Odyssey describes what happens after

Since Ancient Greek beliefs were mostly based on gods, Ancient Greek literature were mostly based on myths and stories of those gods. The Ancient Greeks wrote many stories about the gods, who were important in their daily lives.
2. What role did religious festivals play in Greek life?
For the Greeks, ancient religious festivals represented their faith and worship for the gods. They would have a festival for an individual god. The main one being the Olympics, in respect of Zeus, the ruler of the gods. The most important festivals honored the 12 Olympian gods.
3. How are the Iliad and the Odyssey connected?
In the Iliad, a young Shepard boy, with the help of Aphrodite, the boy steals a Greek queen by the name of Helen and brings her back to Troy. Ulysses, then "enters" the city through the Trojan Horse and kills all of them. The Odyssey is the continuation of that story, about the voyage of Ulysses back home.

Greek religious beliefs and Greek literature were linked as they were both oral in the early years. They both honour the gods and goddesses. They also have many stories behind them. Greek religious beliefs and Greek literature also compared them to humans, as they almost have the same feelings that we do.
2. What role did religious festivals play in Greek life?
It honoured the gods and goddesses. Each god/ goddess had their own special festival. Festivals included procession, races, athletic games, and poetry recitals. This made Greece a more united society.
3. How are the Iliad and the Odyssey connected?
The Iliad and Odyssey are connected as they are both Greek stories. They both show how the gods/ goddesses powers and what they can do. This also proves how competitive they are. It shows their feelings, which are like humans, and how they react to the situation. Both of these stories influenced speech and art today.
4. What lesson might the Greeks have learned from the the myth of Prometheus?
They might learn that they should never rebel Zeus, the ruler, even if their emotions come in their way. Because, many bad consequences, maybe even worse than in the myth of Prometheus, might occur.

She might prefer not to marry as if she marries one of the men that desires her, the others might get really mad and maybe go on a riot. She also does not want to displease her father. Because, if she did she might have been sent to the woods again.

Greek literature was connected to religion. They would write stories, myths, fables, and epics that all somehow connected to the gods in their religion.
2. What role did religious festivals play in Greek life?
The holy festivals were used to honor the gods. On new moons Greeks celebrated the festival of Noumenia. The most important festival was the Olympics, dedicated to Zeus. In the Olympics there were races, wrestling, long jump, and the javelin throw.

2. What roles did religious festivals play in Greek life? Religious festivals were important to the Greek people. Certain days were honored to certain Greek gods. The most important festivals are those of the 12 Olympian gods. The festivals included Races, other athletic games, and poetry recitals.
3. How are the Iliad and the Odyssey connected? The Iliad and Odyssey were both epics of homer. The Iliad is about the Trojan war whereas the Odyssey is about a Greek hero who came after the Trojan war. Both were also known as fictional books until archaeologists found evidence.
4. What lesson might the Greeks have learned from the the myth of Prometheus? The Greeks would have learned that doing bad things are bad but they sometimes turn out good. In the myth Prometheus he stole fire from the gods and gave it to the humans. That was going against what he believed in but now he is said as a hero.

She has lived and been raised by hunters in the woods for most of her life so if she got married she wouldn’t be able to stay there anymore. The wood is her home and she doesent want to stop doing was she is good and and loves.

Poems were than transferred to Myths. And that's how Greek Beliefs and Greek Literature are related. Beliefs were said into Poems/Myths. Myths are what people tell to explain beliefs. 2. What role did religious festivals play in Greek life? Religious festivals were important to Greek life because that's when they honor their gods. The sacrifice things for the gods. Like the Olympics was supposed to honor the god Zeus and his wife. It started in 776B.C. and now people still have the Olympics. 3. How are the Iliad and the Odyssey connected? Because Iliad and the Odysseys were written by the same person, Homer. And you have to know some background information about Iliad before you read the Odyssey because the Odysseus are the things that happened after the Trojan War. Iliad explains the Trojan war. 4. What lesson might the Greeks have learned from the the myth of Prometheus? It explains how, even if you get punished by gods you can still be an hero. Because you are helping so many other people and are taking a risk at the cost of your own life. He stole fire from the gods and gave it to the people. 5. Why might Atalanta prefer not to marry? Because she was born as a girl but lived life like a man instead of a woman. And only cares for men as fellow hunters.She is looking forward to hunt not to get married.

Greeks celebrated their god by creating statue and temple for gods and goddesses and helding marathon. They also sacrificed animals for gods.
