1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having monsoons? Some advantages are that you get have rainfall which is good for crops. But sometimes too much rain, over waters the crops. It also gave more fertile land for farming. For example when the monsoon season is over the crops will be watered and more fertile land will be available. Some disadvantages are that when the monsoons season comes the heavy rains cause floods. But, too much rain can cause over watering of crops and mudslides. Mudslides (or landslides) can lead to blocking of rivers, taking detours, and involuntary migration. The monsoons were both dangerous and helpful at the same time. 2. What evidence suggested that Harappan civilization was prosperous? Harappan cities were larger the state of Texas. It is actually two times the size of Texas. Also, Harappan cities could afford more than the basic necessities. They traded as far as Mesopotamia. The Mesopotamians traded them silver, tin, woolen cloth. Harappans used copper and bronze to make their tools better and more effective than stone tools. Another thing that made Harappan civilizations prosperous is that they had a sewage system not like other places. Their toilets were connected to an underground sewage system which was connected to the ocean. Archeaologists also found a seal with an elephant that has strange kinds of symbols on it. They call it pictographs. No one has been able to figure out what they mean. They say it maybe it isn’t even writing. This is why the Harappan civilization was prosperous. 3. What enlightening questions do you still have about Harappan culture? Did the Harappans have a currency, and if so, how did they use it? It says that Mesopotamians sold things to them. If they had money how did it develop? How did the Harappans act with neighboring civilizations? Did they fight? Did they cause wars? Did they get along? Did they have similarities? Differences? Who did they Harappans worship? Any god? 4. What do you think the "Great Bath" was used for in Mohenjo Daro? We think the Great Bath was used for religious purposes. People of the Harappan cities might’ve had to go there for cleansing. Archaeologist believe that religion had to do with cleansing. They could have done that before going to temples. -GAV

An advantage is that when the monsoons rain in the summer it provides water and nutrients for the crops. The disadvantage is that when the monsoons rain too much sometimes it causes severe floods. When severe floods acure severely sometimes people have to move out of their villages. 2. What evidence suggested that Harappan civilization was prosperous? Human waste was a really big problem in cities. Harappan civilization was prosperous because every house had a bathroom and toilet. They had underground sewers that carried away waste. Which the other cities in those times didn`t have. That is the reason why the Harappan civilization was phosphorus. 3. What enlightening questions do you still have about Harappan culture? I don`t have any enlightening questions for the Harappan culture. 4. What do you think the "Great Bath" was used for in Mohenjo Daro? I think the Great Bath was used for many reasons. Though there is only on that I think really works. That is I think the Great Bath was probably used for religious ceremonies and events like that. For example the christrians have a bath similar to the Great Bath which they use for washing away their sins. ;D
